How these contributions are computed
As a freelancer you pay both the employee and employer shares of all three contributions. This calculator uses the rates in effect for 2026.
- SSS: your income is matched to a Monthly Salary Credit from ₱5,000 to ₱35,000, in ₱500 steps. You pay 15% of it. The first ₱20,000 goes to the regular Social Security fund, and anything above that goes to the Mandatory Provident Fund (MPF). Self-employed members also pay EC: ₱10 if the MSC is below ₱15,000, otherwise ₱30.
- PhilHealth: 5% of your monthly income. Income below ₱10,000 is counted as ₱10,000, and income above ₱100,000 is counted as ₱100,000.
- Pag-IBIG: 4% of your income up to ₱10,000 (3% if you earn ₱1,500 or less), so at most ₱400 a month.
Worked example: ₱25,000 a month, self-employed
- SSS: MSC ₱25,000 → regular SS ₱3,000 + MPF ₱750 + EC ₱30 = ₱3,780
- PhilHealth: 5% × ₱25,000 = ₱1,250
- Pag-IBIG: 4% × ₱10,000 = ₱400
That adds up to ₱5,430 a month, ₱16,290 a quarter, or ₱65,160 a year. Budget for it along with your income tax.
Common questions
How much is the SSS contribution for self-employed members in 2026?
It is 15% of your Monthly Salary Credit (MSC), which runs from ₱5,000 to ₱35,000. Self-employed members pay the whole 15% plus a small EC amount (₱10 or ₱30), so the monthly total ranges from ₱760 to ₱5,280.
What is the MPF in my SSS contribution?
The Mandatory Provident Fund replaced the old WISP. The part of your MSC above ₱20,000 goes to the MPF at 15%, up to ₱2,250 a month. If your MSC is ₱20,000 or lower, you have no MPF contribution.
How much is PhilHealth for freelancers?
5% of your monthly income. Income below ₱10,000 is counted as ₱10,000 and income above ₱100,000 is counted as ₱100,000, so you pay between ₱500 and ₱5,000 a month. You pay all of it yourself, and you can pay monthly, quarterly, semi-annually or annually.
What is the Pag-IBIG contribution for self-employed members?
You pay both shares: 4% of your income up to a ₱10,000 fund salary (3% if you earn ₱1,500 or less), so at most ₱400 a month. ₱200 is the commonly cited minimum. You can save more if you want, and MP2 is a separate voluntary savings program.
Is SSS different for voluntary members?
The 15% rate and MSC table are the same. The difference is EC (Employees’ Compensation): it is listed for self-employed members, but whether it applies to voluntary members is not confirmed, so this calculator leaves it out. Check with SSS for your exact amount.
